Or you’re a Palestinian on the West Bank and the faux Semites can kill your olive trees, your animals and you too?

For a couple of days now, similar types of questions have been coming into my attention, pointing me toward a sense of honor - standing unto death for what you believe in.

I think I have always approached that from the other side, where the instinct says: it's not worth it, your life is the most important thing. But I think there comes a place - when you walk through all the seeing and arrive more fully into the being - where that calculation changes.

And this place is different.

I just changed my pen name for writing, and I will be changing it here soon, because of a transformation I have gone through. For a moment I thought - you hardly have three people following you, why would you change your name? And the answer came immediately: because I can no longer sit comfortably inside the other name. That's why.

That brings me to the broader picture of what I am trying to say.

There comes a point when you genuinely have no choice but to be who you are and stand in that fully. I think many of us are arriving at that place right now. What we would want, what we would choose for comfort - it simply stops holding the weight it once did. The being asserts itself. And you either honor it or you carry the cost of the distance between who you are and who you are pretending to be.

The name changes because the person changed. That's not vanity. That's integrity.
